Affiliate disclosure summary: Some links on Stackwise earn us a commission if you sign up. This never affects rankings — tools are ranked by fit, not fees. Full details in Section 3 below.

1. What we collect

When you use the Stackwise advisor, we receive the business description you type, the budget, skill level, and stage options you select, and the recommendation results generated. If you choose to save your stack by email, we collect the email address you provide. We also collect standard server logs including IP address, browser type, and pages visited — this is standard for any website.

2. How we use your data

We use business descriptions to generate your recommendation. We use emails you voluntarily submit to send you a copy of your recommendation and, if you opt in, occasional tool tips and updates. We use aggregate usage data (never individual data) to improve the quality of recommendations. We do not sell your data to third parties.

3. Affiliate links and commissions — full disclosure

Some links on Stackwise are affiliate links. This means if you click a link and sign up for a paid plan, Stackwise may earn a referral commission from the tool provider — at no extra cost to you. The commission amount varies by provider and plan. Affiliate relationships do not affect rankings. Tools are ranked by business-type fit, conversion likelihood, and setup difficulty — not commission value. A free tool will be recommended over a high-commission paid tool if it is the better fit for your situation. This disclosure is required by the FTC Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255).

4. Cookies and tracking

Stackwise uses a first-party cookie to remember your cookie consent preference. If you click an affiliate link, the tool provider may set their own tracking cookies to attribute the referral — this is standard affiliate tracking and governed by the provider's own privacy policy. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or retargeting pixels on this site. If we add analytics (e.g. Google Analytics), we will update this policy and display appropriate consent banners in required jurisdictions.

5. Data retention

Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes. Emails submitted via the save-stack form are retained for up to 24 months or until you request deletion. You can request deletion of any personal data at any time by emailing us.

6. Your rights

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you. If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK, you also have the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.

7. Third-party providers

Stackwise is hosted on Vercel. Business descriptions typed into the advisor are processed server-side to generate recommendations and are not stored beyond the request lifecycle unless you explicitly save your stack. Each affiliated tool provider has its own privacy policy that governs what happens after you click through to their site.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when we add new features, affiliate partners, or tracking tools. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with an updated date. Continued use of Stackwise after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
